Two Sides, Three Groups!

April 17, 2011, 2:02 pm

Midnight this Friday at the UCB Theatre, Free Love Forum joins fellow sketch groups Rue Brutalia and Patrick & Adam for our third appearance in “A-Side/B-Side,” the premier sketch event hosted by the esteemed Aaron Kheifets and Johnny McNulty.

Each group will perform two sketches; a trusted audience pleaser, the “A-Side,” and a “B-Side” that plunges an audience into the uncharted depths of strange new material destined to blow their minds, or seriously amuse.

Experts on things voted this show the “Best Thing Happening” this week. Pretty awesome, right?

UCB Theatre
307 W. 26th Street

Friday, April 22nd @ Midnight

$5, available here.

See You in Toronto!

November 10, 2009, 8:19 am

It’s happening, it’s really happening! We’ll be back in Toronto this weekend for the fifth annual Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival. Each year, our neighbors to the north (or rather, “neighbours”) dish out their finest comedy delights and privilege a few groups from the USA to join their North American comic affair. We’re incredibly honored to have been accepted for a third year in a row (or rather, “honoured”). If you’re in Toronto, don’t pass it up – something killer is happening every night from the 10th to the 15th! For a full festival schedule and ticketing, go here (or rather, “hereur“).

We’ll be performing full sets at the Comedy Bar on both Friday and Saturday:

Friday @ 9pm [tickets]
with Free Love Forum,
Hot Thespian Action,
and Approximately 3 Peters

Saturday @ 7pm [tickets]
with Free Love Forum,
The Skinny, and Frenzy

And for you fellow sketch troupes, we’re planning on being in the midnight Sketch-U-Bator as well.

A-Side/B-Side, vol. 9

November 1, 2009, 10:43 pm

This Friday, comic visionaries, Aaron Kheifets and James Eason, have once more wrangled three sketch troupes to perform for your pleasure in their comedy masterclass, A-Side/B-Side. The show sees each group perform one sketch that’s a proven audience fav (an A-Side), followed by one sketch that’s strange, new, or unproven (the B-Side). If that hasn’t got you setting your gCal to remind to your iBerry, I should note that the bunch of us, Free Love Forum, have been asked back to join Adam and Trevor and Party Central USA! The details:

Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre
Friday, November 6, 2009 @ 11pm
$5 [make your reservation here]

Sketch Fest NY See Ya’

June 8, 2009, 12:18 am

sflogoExactly once a year we have the all too brief pleasure of meeting our regional and national sketch comedy brethren at a three day event they call “Sketch Fest NYC.” In the evenings – after extensive seminars where we sketch troupes talk shop, share tips, and watch demos featuring the latest in sketch comedy technology – we perform incredible shows for insanely reasonable prices (consider the quality, folks).

Above all, check out the fest. While you’re there, join us as we perform with comedy duo, B.O.F (Best of Friends). They’re a lady and a gent with a great webseries

TICKETS: $10 [buy]

A-Side/B-Side @ UCB

May 27, 2009, 1:48 am

featuring Free Love Forum, New Exc!tment, and Murderfist

Our NYU intern, Ben, is apparently slacking off on something called “summer break”, leaving us to do all the posting ourselves. I had to log into my own profile just to write this update, unbelievable. Anyway Ben, wherever you are, don’t be long.

Right, so we’ve got a gig this Saturday. We’re part of a show called “A-Side/B-Side” at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater here in New York City. We’re joining renowned NYC sketch groups, New Exc!tement and Murderfist. The evening will find each group performing a popular sketch, followed by a newer and/or more unusual sketch.

In case you were concerned, our B-Side will not be the infamous Equus sketch that had us banned from Harvey’s Laff Lounge in Sheboygan back in ‘03.

TICKETS: $5.00

Saturday, May 30th @ Midnight
(also known as Sunday morning)

The Gigging Begins!

April 7, 2009, 11:15 pm

Hey everybody. Sorry it’s been a bit since I last updated. I’ve been so busy with all the errands I’m running and trying to keep up with my studies, I haven’t slept in days. It’s all good though because the guys are working on some awesome stuff and I’ve got front row seats to all the developments. Actually, that’s why I’m posting. Jared’s asked me to update you all on some upcoming Free Love Forum gigs. They’re premiering new sketches and video at a handful of variety shows hosted by, and featuring, the finest minds in the underground comedy scene.

Friday, April 10th, 11pm  @ The PIT
“The Upset Triangle Variety Hour”
Tickets: $10

Thursday, April 30th, 8pm @ The PIT
“The Downtown Superstar Ten Minute Hour”
Tickets: $ TBA

Friday, May 1st, 8pm @ The PIT
“The Downtown Superstar Ten Minute Hour”

Hope to see you guys there! Keep an eye out for me, I’ll be taking tickets and  selling limited edition FLF coasters that I made myself!

Stay tuned, more dates are being discussed.

Hi, I’m Ben, the new student intern

March 13, 2009, 9:23 am

On behalf of Mr. Beiler, Mr. Dorfman, Mr. Gronli, Ms. Johnson, Mr. Klipstein, and Jared, I welcome you to Free Love Forum’s relaunched comedy site. Until the end of the semester I’ll be’s part-time administrator, which means you’ll occasionally see updates from me about what the guys are doing.

I couldn’t be more psyched. When I was a high school senior, Free Love Forum was a huge hit on YouTube for one week. I’ve been keeping tabs on them ever since, and two years later here I am! Turns out the reason they haven’t posted many new videos since then is because they’re always talking to TV execs. No surprise, those dudes were way funny! Did you see that MS Paint video? It was mad sick.

So about me: I’m sophomore at the Tisch School of Film & Television, I love sketch comedy (classics like Keenen and KelThe Amanda Show, and of course, Free Love Forum), I love hockey (go Rangers!), music (go Kanye!), and partying (obviously).

Man, I’m still tweaking. When my media production T.A. handed out a list of accredited internships and I saw Free Love Forum listed, I didn’t think I had a chance,  but no sooner did my interview start than they began assigning work! I guess I had them at hello . Anyways, I’m really thankful to the guys for giving me this opportunity.

Spoiler alert: I’ll also be assisting Free Love Forum’s crew on some upcoming videos and gigs… that’s right, they’ve got new stuff in the pipeline!
